I realize this might be a moot point considering the car , but I was curious as to what kind of fuel efficiency you are experiencing.
As the E55 will be a daily driver, almost all city driving, what do I expect to see in the way of fuel consumption? I've seen anywhere from 16 mpg to 22 mpg city and up to 30 mpg highway. Yet, compared to some other V8 powered vehicles with significantly less HP and torque, it's quite reasonable, if not impressive.
Thanks and sorry for such boring question. Truly excited for Saturday - comparing 3 cars.
My fuel mpg is (19) and I drive city 35 to 50 mph/highway 55-85mpg weekly. Best mpg city 16/ highway 23.5 no mods to engine and using RP oil in engine and rear end. This car has hp/tq to keep up to most fast cars on the street. Buy one or W211 you will love it.
Driving with a medium foot, my 12 mile commute averages 17mpg, mainly city streets. The hp/torque of our motors seems to allow "4/10ths" driving, whereas other, less powerful vehicles need to be driven with more throttle / revs. Case in point is the C230 loaner from dealership gets about 19mpg on my same commute. Not a bad mpg penalty to pay, IMHO.
Long stretches of highway at 75 to 80 mph nets me 26 to 27 mpg, assuming decent traffic flow.
Of course, all of the above goes out the window when it's time to have fun. Your mileage may vary!
I get about 17-18 average with a mix of freeway and city. Most I've seen on the freeway is 21... but then again I do drive like a fiend
You can also get tires that aren't as 'sticky' and you will get a little better too... (less rolling resistance) but at the expense of handling. I'd say just keep the windows up on the freeway and otherwise hang on!
I get about 19.5 overall, more highway than city.
Slowed my commute speed a bit when gas prices shot up -- that made a difference.

Thanks for the insight. Logically, I realize these cars aren't purchased for their fuel efficiency, but it's better to know before purchasing I guess. I figure I will average 1 extra fill up per month based on my driving habits. Small price to pay I guess for this kind of fun.
I like r_liebo's vehichle chronolgy, specifically "The Lemon." That's just funny. I'm currently driving a C240, it's not quite in the lemon status, but not that far off from the lemon tree.
