Had a chance the other day to drive a 2005 w211 E55, what a difference. I have never driven anything that can relate to it, and i dont just mean its power. First interior is nice, it amazes me how benz can keep making seats better, fit like a glove. Love the new steering wheel, my favorite thing on the car over the W210. Now to the meat and potatoes, drive by wire is a whole different animal. Steering, brakes, and gas are completely different. It was kind of like driving something from the future, not a car but maybe a Jetsons car or something. Something that warps time though, its fast but very stealthy, I thought it was quite quiet compared to my 210, (havent modded my exhaust yet). You dont have that car feel, like I said it was more like some kind of Jetson car, you stomp the gas it warps, you brake it stops , you turn the wheel it points the car in a different direction. It was like driving in the air (i had the suspension on the firmest setting). After driving it I felt like I looked into the future and this what driving was going to be like in the year 2057. But the year is 2007, and Kleenman is looking a lot better. My thoughts, awesome looking car, love benz.

thanks for that! I love to read subjective reports about how these cars drive. Great stuff! I like the point and shoot description. I would like to drive one myself. And would like to know the differences between the 63 and 55 models, engine spec aside, of course... :-).
The W211 is okay. I have driven the E55 and the CLS 55 and there is no comparision the CLS 55 is light years ahead or the E55. Quality is much better. and its better looking. You know you can get a 2003 W211 for low 40s. but.... id stay away from them.
