So today I went to the dealer to buy a shifter bushing and in the service lane was a W210 CLK? De-badge but the tag plate frame said M3 can you believe someone putting a BMW tag frame on his or her Mercedes? I did'nt have my camera or cellphone on me at the time. Very funny!

Yes this is true. Most people even Mercedes owners think AMG's are just a body kit and factory wheels on a Mercedes. The service manager at Mercedes of Miami did not know AMG only produces a few cars a year. He told me that they made so many 2001 E55's and it really is no more special then the others Mercedes sold that year. In 2001 Mercedes AMG made for the US 653 units and in 2006 1187 of the E55. That sure seems like a low number run like my Panerai watches have. I don’t understand the way people look at things. If I pull up in a 935 TT Porsche and then in a E55 AMG I get very different looks and questions from people the Mercedes people just walk by unless they know the cars history the Porsche I need a body guard.

Yep that IS true. I think also the Mercs are a bit special, esp the W210 AMG versions BECAUSE they look so low key. I get many more admirers for my Jeep Commander, oddly, than my E55 Tmodell. But then if I wanted to draw attention to myself Id have bought an Iprezza Turbo with 4 inch pot and blacked out windows :-). For me, the sleeper aspect of my ride is one of the high point. And as for the guy with the Merc and the M3 plates, maybe he's just got a good sense of humour ;-), ah the irony...
lol this is very true for me to i rarely get people askin about my car. But my cousins with his e46 m3, 04 audi s4 , 911 targa, and gli jetta get all the attention lol im glad my car dont draw attention i hate explaining what i have or dn't have on my car lol.
I love not getting attention for my car. Less to worry about. When I had my S4 I was nervous every time I went to North Jersey. It was the number 1 stolen car. The E55 is the ultimate sleeper.
