Sucks - just lost BOTH rear window regulators in the period of two weeks. Replacements are on EBAY @ $ 50 each, I'll provide the labor (great write up on the W210 string).
Wouldn't you think MBZ would have figured power windows out about 20 years ago ??
Man - thats a helluva note - dont use your rear windows because they will break. The weird thing is that this car has been PERFECT up till now, with this exception.
If I rationalize, I suppose thats not bad, but still sucks just the same.
i just lost my right rear regulator a few weeks back....compared to my Rover with tranny glitches and other electrical mishaps - I can deal with the window regulators going. Once you do one regulator you will get the learning curve up to about 1 hour of labor per door.
Just one suggestion - use aluminum rivets not the steel oem ones...as they are easier to put in and drill out the next time it goes
good luck

I have had similarly bad luck with my E320 rear window regulators. They are easy to replace, but they really are aggravating when they break. Out of curiosity, was it hot and/or sunny when your blankity blank regulators failed?
Nature of plastic, gets weak with age, motors still strong, back windows dont get much use. My brother use to work for Toyota and he said he has done hundreds of them, same problem. As of right now my rear right is being held up with a stick in a door, waiting for the right part, they sent me one for the left.

Hot sunny day both times. Think that the previous post is probably correct - MBZ chose their plastic supplier unwisely. Too bad there wasn't a "latent defect" law (10 years) for "known problems" with cars... window regulators are definately bs in our cars, and MBZ knows it, but they are off the hook after the warranty expires.
PS - stealer quoted me $ 585 (per side) to repair , the EBay parts I ordered are right varound $50. If they are not going to offer an extended warranty repair, they could at least offer a reduced repair rate instead of FULL boat. How much business do you think I'm going to give to them in the future ?
