Hi - I have been lurking on this board for a LONG TIME, thanks to you guys, I have the E55 bug and I am about to put the hammer down on it! Anyway, I would like your opnions. I have found a 2001 silver/ black with almost 58k on it, I would rate it a 7 for cosmetics - a little rust spot near the tail light, visable if you open the trunk and it also has had several door dings that were "removed" but you can see them if you look hard and a few scratches. Anyway, it is $23k. I have also found (and put a significant deposit on) a 2002 E55 at a MB dealer, black/black with 49k miles, CPO and for $31k, it includes 3 years / 100k miles MB CPO warranty. The '02 is a better car (I think - and I have all of the service records, etc...) but do you guys think it is worth the extra $? The '01 has nav, the '02 does not, I don't care about nav but it may help your e-evaluations. Thank you in advance for your thoughts and I look forward to joining the AMG ranks soon.
That's a little high for the 02 in todays market. The first one you mentioned with the rust, make sure you pull the door seals back and check the doors as well, also have a qualified person check the spring perches on that car, few have failed due to rust. In the 24K-30K price range you can get any W210 E55, take your time and find the perfect one! Warranty is good idea though, parts are pretty expensive. Good luck searching....oh yeah, I have the Command 2.0 (Navi) you're not missing much without it. My thoughts....
Both vehicles are priced too high. I would not consider the first E55, and offer $27.5 warranty included for the second E55. FYI, the trade in value for a 02 E55 with 49K on the clock is ~ $24.5K. A typical dealer mark up would be $6K. You do the math. I would recommend a warranty, but this can be bought separately. Here's a link to an identical 02 E55 on Ebay: eBay Motors: Mercedes-Benz : E-Class (item 160128263218 end time Jun-22-07 14:07:23 PDT)
Also, keep in mind that there is little, if any, difference between a 2000, 2001 or 2002 W210 E55. Just find the one with the lowest mileage, and you will be fine.
Good luck, and happy hunting.
Well, it looks like the deal on the black '02 CPO is dead. What would you guys pay for a CPO 2002 silver/ char, 67,000 miles, two owner - clean car, with a total of 24 months / up to100k miles MB CPO warranty? Thanks in advance for your opinions! Car does not have navi.
