just bought my 00 E55 and experiencing some problems
Just picked up a used 00 E55 for a fairly decent price about a week ago and i've experienced a few problems that I was hoping some of you on this board can help me out with.
1) on initial startup, the tach will bounce from 800 rpm to about 1200 rpm but will disappear once i start driving it. its only occurred once or twice since I bought it.
2) really annoying. just recently my trunk opens by itself after starting the car, its happened about 6 times since i've bought the car and the damn thing just wont close until i wait about a minute or two before its ok to close again. i'm assuming the latch is faulty.
3) my contour seats or whatever you call it isnt working. i'm assuming its a fuse or some sort thats causing this then again im not sure.
this is my first benz so im kinda clueless about it, i'd appreciate any help. Thanks!

Check your air filters, MAF.

The trunk latch can be adjusted.

I'll try to take some pix of the latch for you later and try see look for a diagram for the PSE pump......(do a search for the contour switch seat also)

use CRC air mass cleaner and also 91% isopropyl + Q-tip to clean the MAS (be gentle!). this will get rid of any contaminants. ALso get a new set of paper filters if the stock ones are filthy. Sometimes you can just tap them against a flat surface or clean them with a shop vac and they will be as good as new again. Having had K&Ns for some time now, they simply aren't worth the headache, stick with paper filter or go with full aftermarket intake setup.

Thanks guys I really appreciate the prompt responses. I've tried the CRC MAF Cleaner method and it seems to have fixed it, it also took away this random CEL I had. Also bought new Mercedes filters at a whooping 80 bucks a piece. Anybody know any websites that sell genuine mercedes parts for alot cheaper than the local dealer?
Another question I have
1) When I switch to the S mode (I'm assuming it stands for Sport), the idle is a little rough but goes away when I switch back to the W mode. Any idea could be causing this?
S actually stands for "Standard" not sport, W stands for winter. In W mode it starts off in 2nd gear instead of first and does not downshift as much. S mode is what you should normally drive it in. Sometimes it takes a little bit to adapt when you swich from mode to mode, thats normal. Benz manual says not to change during driving.

more issues..
I've concluded that my MAF sensor has probably taken a dump as ive done everything to try and cure the odd shifting my car is doing. I've replaced the engine/tranny oil per omey's recommendation. cleaned out the MAF and even cleaned out my throttle body (which happened to have a ton of gunk!) and still, nothing.
Anyway I've ran into a new issue, my factory command system. The command loads the disc but the only button that works is previous sites or something like that and even then it says im at an unknown location and doesn't display a map. Could my navi be faulty or could the disc be bad? Any help would be appreciated.
JOE55, have you had a chance to snap some shots of the trunk latch for me?
