I'm close to purchasing a low mileage (30K) 2000 w 210. Obviously the car is out of warranty. Auto warranty brokers offer a 100k mile powertrain warranty for $1,100, but it only covers engine, transmission, and water pump. I figure this is better than nothing.
Does anybody have any suggestions on extended warranty, since the car is out of warranty, but very low mileage. Thanks in advance.
those are the three most unlikely things on this car to give you a problem. unless the "engine" part covers electronics like sensors, 02's and etc... You should get the exclusive list that states all of the things it DOES NOT cover, then you can hold them to that if you ever have a claim. If they won't give you that then you shouldn't buy their policy.
I bought a 2002 E55 with 36K Mi. on it and seriously researched extended warrantees. There are plusses and minuses to all of them. My $ .02 is to buy the best package you can through the dealership you would use most often. Indi shops hate them as they all hassle the indi shop owners.
I paid $ 3500.00 for a 4 year/48K "Platinum" package which covers almost everything. I bought Fidelity Carefree Car Protection (800) 327-5172 from Beverly Hills MB with the sole reason being that the "salesgirl" swore that 90+% of the time they will allow OEM AMG parts. Some don't. The cost of a "Broken" AMG can drive you to therapy. I wouldn't drive without it!

I tend to agree with this view. In fact, a more detailed summation would be beneficial. Nonetheless, given the cost of MB/AMG parts alone, $1,100. 100K warranty is a very fair price point.
great info, thanks!....is it possible to buy extended warranty from a Benz dealer for a W210 E55 which no longer has factory warranty or one who's warranty is about to expire? Thanks!
a few socal dealers want 2002 E55's for $32k...I did see one, clean...nice sales guy but they wanted to stick with their asking price of $32k....didn't feel like dealing with them at that price..but they did say I can buy another 3 year warranty CPO warranty for about $4k...this price is negotiable, right?

Yes it's always negotiable it's all depends on how you talk/deal to them.
Well the dealer in Florida has offered me the following warranty:
30 mo/30k miles: $1,555
36 mo/36K miles: 1,825
48 months/50K miles: 2, 381
The warranty are Easy Care, by Ford. So I think it should be reputable and suppose to cover just about anything with a 200 dollar deductible. I'm thinking of going with the 48 month plan. The car is a 00 e55, I think it would be wise to get the extended warranty. Here is a link to the car :
Worst case: If you keep the car that long, you'll likely at least break even. I assume the warranty is very comprehensive; should be for a $200 deductible.
