Closing windows/sunroof with remote key

Dear all,

I was able to close the windows with my infra-red remote control of my 1992 300SE, but couldn't do the same thing with my 1999 E55. Does the W210 have this feature? How to program it to do so?

My 2000 W210 E55 AMG has the remote window and sunroof opening/closing feature. I do stand directly in front of the door handle for it to operate correctly. And, I do not know if this feature was one of the 200 or so production changes for the 2000 and up models. Nonetheless, I would not know how to program the remote being that it came programmed from factory. Surely, a bit of research should produce an answer for you. Good luck.

If you have this feature you should be able to close all of the windows and sunroof by first...

hitting the lock button on the remote....doors all lock. Then let go, then immediately hold down the lock button again to close everthing up but don't let go of the button until everything is closed.

It seems that you need to re-sync your power windows, sunroof..etc. did you recently change your car battery?

Synchronizing Head Restraints:

If the power supply was interrupted (battery
disconnected or empty), the head restraints are no
longer adjusted automatically. To resynchronize the adjustment feature, turn electronic key in steering lock to position 2, move the seat completely forward and the head restraint fully down, and hold respective buttons for approximately two seconds.

Synchronizing power windows:

If the power supply was interrupted (battery
disconnected or low), the windows cannot be opened or
closed by the Express feature. To resynchronize the express feature, press <close> side of power window switch to resistance point until the window is completely closed and hold for additional 2 seconds. Repeat procedure for each window. The automatic full opening and closing procedure of the windows should now be restored.

Synchronizing sliding/pop-up roof:

If the power supply was interrupted (battery
disconnected or low), or if the sliding/pop-up roof is blocked during closing/opening procedure, the system has to be synchronized. To do so, turn electronic key in steering lock to position 2, move and hold switch in direction (3), until the sliding/pop-up roof is completely raised at rear, and
hold for additional 1 second.

Synchronizing ESP:

If the power supply was interrupted (battery
disconnected or empty), the BAS/ESP malfunction
indicator lamp may be illuminated with the engine
running. Turn steering wheel completely to the left and then to the right. The BAS/ESP malfunction indicator lamp should go out.

Synchronizing remote control:

The remote control may have to be resynchronized, if
the vehicle cannot be locked or unlocked. To synchronize insert electronic key in steering lock.
The remote control should once again be operational.

Thanks, I didn't know my 2001 E320 Sport came with that feature, but it's working now. It's great with these hot summers here in the south.

Much appreciated Joe, the previous owner had not reset the windows or sunroof after last battery replacement - which was MB Roadside.

The end result was when I reset the windows and sunroof - and both the sunroofs and windows made a confirming "click" - I picked up a "new" feature I didn't know I had !
