perhaps I am missing something...the engine temps of your vehicles is 82 degrees F warmed up? How are you measuring this? I think you guys mean 82 degrees C which is 180 degrees F which would make sense
As in terms of hot weather, a friend of mine who is from Kuwait says Benz's could handle the heat were Bimmers could not. He said in summer (over 50C is standard) you would always see a BMW overheated, never a Benz. Not really hard facts, and since his parents had a Bmw that overheated several times (they sold it and bought a Benz) he maybe bias. But there maybe some fact there, who knows?

A steady ~82 F is what the temperature gauge reads in a normal operating scenario. I believe you are referring to the thermostat capacity of 180 F. I believe you misunderstood the initial question.....What is the engine temp...
I don't think I did. Let me explain, when your engine reads 82 degrees C your thermistat openes....keeping your engine at that temp, keeping your engine at 180F reduces sludge which in turn keeps all your oil passenges clear, which makes for longer engine life. Now people think keeping your engine running this hot isn't good, so they get 160 degree thermistats, this keeps your engine running at 160 degrees F, a little cooler, but could build up sludge ...82 degrees C is 180 degrees F. Your guage in your car is in Celsius not Fahrenheit and it reads the water temp or in other words engine temp.
