getting 400 crank hp is one thing but 400whp is another. I'm very happy with my Generation 1 supercharger. It is the best part of my car. People are always amazed by the sound and power of my car. The HPS Gen 1 systems is good but stay away from the Gen2 it is a nightmare that you will never wake up from

E55Cent, can you tell if the pictured SC is the Gen1 or Gen2?
If it is the Gen1, how involved is the installation and tuning? I recall reading that you didn't have the ECU issues that the Gen2 had. Did you have to tune yours at all, or did it adjust on its own?

It is a Gen 1 but there might be a ton pieces missing. This kit was made for the ML and not the E55. It shares about 85% but still there is going to be some differences. The istall is about 10hours or so. The Fuel pump and dyno was another4 hours.
E55cent, I just got perhaps the last Gen I made installed on my 2002 E55. We are having some trouble with it and was hoping perhaps that you could give me a detailed account of any problems you experienced on the install.
I had to change out the idler pulley as there was too much belt slippage so we went from 90mm to 110mm. That helped but did not really solve the rough running. it starts, it runs, it screams when you step on it, (3 Beemer guys hanging around trying to pretend they didn't care, nearly died at the dyno when we opened it up) but a smooth, steady acceleration causes a rough spot in the high 2000 range that disappears shortly after if you just keep accelerating through it. also off the line it is rough, even stalled once. Adam at HPS suggested a vacuum leak but we have already checked boost and it held steady. It is only producing 2lbs of boost and RWHP to 345 from the 302rwhp we measured on the baseline before install.
I would also like to talk to you about the lightened pulleys since HPS recommends zero mods to the engine when adding the Gen 1. My shop is a hardcore racing shop that specializes in fuel injection and carburation system, and has said we will build a fuel management system from scratch if he has to but I keep thinking this should work as designed and that we are mssing a couple of minor things in the setup.
Looking forward to your reply,

and so it begins !
E55Cent is really the only guy I have ever heard say nice things about HPS. And even then, it sounds like he spent a ton of time and $$ on his own to dial his blower in, with little support from HPS. Betcha that he is a better reference than HPS for your project - but good luck just the same.
