AMG was in another run tonight. I ran into my buddy as i was driving home tonight. He has a 500HP silver RX7. so we play around, and from a 10mph roll we gun it.... I pull ahead by half a car at the start, then he pulls ahead half a car, he goes to shift and i pull ahead half a car, then he pulls ahead by half a car to about to top of 2nd gear as he shifts i catch up again. we shut down around 70mph. then we run one more time. and at 80-120 MPH i blow him away lol (he shut down around 100). To me it seems the Rx7 was definitely faster in gear but as he would shift i would always catch up and I realized its b/c of AMGs super smooth continuous acceleration. At high speeds once again heavy mass + big torque seems to be the winning combo. The AMG wasn't even running in top form tonight. Need to do another ECU reset and drive it hard for a few miles.
this E55 continually keeps amazing me buys. On paper its not that amazing but on the streets in the real world its beating cars that should be raping me on paper, once again hats off to AMG engineers.
I cannot WAIT for headers + Pulley, this may be W211 fast with the right mods and enough weight reduction.
Hold those heads up high boys, our cars are more amazing than we even realize .

211's are fast I have a very hard time keeping up with them and I have 100whp over stock. My car is dead even with a C5 Z06 or a new C6.
my car was almost dead even with Z06 too but only 80+ mph. The key though is weight removal. the more weight you remove the better the car will perform. right now I am 75lbs under stock and with headers & pulley I'll get close to 100HP. I would go a bit more extreme but I am going to get CLK55 in the summer so its smarter to just wait then really go nuts in that package b/c its 200lbs lighter already in stock form with pretty much the same engine. Either way should be interesting to see what these mods make.
Does this mean you are selling the E55? I have started to really enjoy your exploits and commentary on the car (that I just bought last month).

hehe, I am selling E55 soon but no worries most of the CLK55 parts are applicable to the E55 as well so no need to worry. There will still be plenty of new mods coming out and i still have a few aces up my sleeves. I will still post here regularly as well, I just want a CLK55 b/c its a more sporty platform and I am going to try and get W211 E55K speed in a NA W208 CLK55 (200lbs lighter than our cars so its a real potent package).

What are your E55 mods? I hope a Supercharger? if not? NOS?
