Ok I know this topic is dated, but i wanted to know if the AMG engines were included in the Recall/Service campaign for replacing the Harmonic Balancer of the W210
Thanks, RJ
if there is a thread to this, just point me to it!!
technically i don't think they are but after seeing how chewed up my stock one is after only 80k miles I am definitely getting rid of my stock one for an aftermarket pulley. My stock rubber damper is peeling and falling out in chunks (looks like the rubber is shedding skin, its not looking too good. I guess over time that heat gets to the rubber.
I know that my C43 was included in that recall. I almost went to court over it. In my circumstance the HB went and it beat the hell out of the upper oil pan enough to make a good sized leaking crack in the pan. The dealership out in Chicago replace the HB under recall but never fixed the oil pan that was ruined by the HB. So the car gets cleaned up I look at it and end up buying it. A week later I have the car back in NH and the leak starts to show itself. The dealer out their denyed the pan was damaged that extensive. The dealership here simply said that the damage "was" casued by the HB but they didn't feel they owed me the service as I wasn't a long time customer....they seriously said that...also that the previous owner shouldn't have let it go that long. As if the average joe knows to check the HB.
.....so I would defenitly check on getting that replaced. If it goes and starts wobbling like crazy it may damage other things. Which MB may try and put on your plate to repair.
