2001 E55, poor performance after battery was low

After charging the battery so the car would start my formerly trustworthy E55 is acting a bit funny. When I push the throttle to the floor the car hesitates for >5 seconds, it's still accelerating but at a much reduced rate. If I keep my foot in it the car will eventually go to full power and accelerate normally. It's acting sort of like it has a poorly tuned 4 bbl on it.

All that changed is the low battery condition. What gives?

Your symptoms point to the MAF sensor.
