Just landed a 2000 E55 w/ 49K for $20,500 (from Mercedes dealer). Two-tone interior; everything but GPS; no aftermarket mods.
Have not been able to really drive it yet, as the weather's been cold and permanent tags are still on the way (those temporary tags scream 'pull me over').
Very excited nonetheless. Glad to finally be a beast owner. This is a great site.
BTW...any advice in regards to aftermarket extended warranty providers? Who should I consider? Looking for a 36- to 48-mo. warranty.
Congrats. Great price.
Get the warranty for sure, and in addition to this forum ask your service rep at the dealer you will take the car to who they like working with. That may be your best answer and cause you the fewest problem down the road.
Nice looking car, welcome to the family. The price of these things are dropping like mad. I paid 32k for my 2000 a year ago. It only had 30k on the clock though...so I probably overpaid as well. But, I only live once and this was my dream machine...again welcome.
Just got a quote for an aftermarket extended warranty (via local Mercedes dealership through 3rd party). Coverage provider is Fidelity.
Here are the figures. Please let me know your thoughts.
2-yrs/24K mi. - $2467
3-yrs/36K mi. - $2960
4-yrs/48K mi. - $3563
As I understand, this covers pretty much everything but maint. items. Also, there is not cap or maximum coverage amount. Also, a $100 deductible applies.
Any advise is appreicated. I know I want to get under waranty soon.
honestly i haven't had any reliability issues whatsoever so far, these cars are VERY well built other than their rear passenger side window motors (like all mercedes of that era thats always the first thing to break). congrats!
