Smart Key replacement
I had to get a back-up key took 4 business days and $225. came ready to go worked fine.

my uncle has this on his new GL, did you get the new design like this?
I tried to get that too but they say it's only available to '06 and up...so i just have to put cover on mine.

No, I have the same as you. Wow, I like that new key. The dealer said only what was sent from factory is what is available to me for my VIN.

That is not true. I just order the new 07' style key for 1999 E55 from
OEM Parts Direct :: Jaguar, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, and Volvo for $61.00 shipped with the key blade. It came already programmed. This discussion has been going on for a long time at mbworld.org.

My dealer also told me that it would not work, but it does.

Great lookikng new key - my old keys are a bit banged up - at $61 a key I think I will get a replacement set. Any order info would be helpfull (part number) etc..thanks so much

I dont know why the dealer say that, it will work. This key got #2 in the top ten new key fobs, read this article...

you will need your vin number handy in the checkout page. You will also need to fax a copy of your driver license and title. It will take one week to get the key.

I don't like the "Smart Key" that much. I very much prefer the flip key that Mercedes first introduce in the R129 and the W140.
