hey guys,
got my dyno done on sat. good news...
299rwhp and 321rwtq. i would think the tq to be higher, but i dunno what the deal is. only mods are the x-pipe mod (resonator delete). I also don't feel like these are the right numbers b/c we couldn't get a solid run. the car kept downshifting. i even pulled the ESP/ABS sensor in the engine bay.
a HUGE thing also...on the dyno, the car went upto 159mph!!! it didn't kill at 155mph!!! whats the deal?
another thing to consider, the wheels on the car are about ~3lbs heavier, so that may factor in slightly...
Hey bad burb, those numbers are fantastic you should be extatic not upset lol. You are making about 375 crank HP with 299 wheel HP @ 20% loss which is proper for our cars. Also the reason your torque numbers are low is you have to look at the graph carefully and read it properly. you could only get a dyno run from about 4100 rpm . Peak torque on our cars is 3000 rpm so you will NEVER be able to measure the max torque in our cars b/c of the way our trannies are and we do not have a TRUE dynomometer mode (unlike the W211s which can hold the same gear no matter what).
280HP stock is what you should be dynoing on a dynojet for our cars. Torque you just have to ignore b/c honestly no W210 will every be able to dyno below 3800rpm b/c tranny kicks in. For a Mustang you should be running around 270-272 HP stock on the dyno. So 299 you are making almost 18-20HP more than stock lol. not bad
Your A/Fs look great infact you could add a bit more air even and still be safe your A/Fs are getting rich past 5500rpm so that means headers would make fantastic gains on your car. Honestly thats one of the more powerful dynos i've seen for our cars so stop complaining haha i wish i had your dyno but thanks to high altitude & dry arizona air that will never happen lol.
I know the X-pipe is a big reason for those gains but not all of them. You must have an exceptionally strong AMG engine from the factory, not bad burb (no pun intended ) . Thats like winning the jackpot. awesome job
hey thanks Omey!
yea, i can't complain at all... i was too shocked when i saw the hp #s knowing that most cars of this age get ~275rwhp. If i had the stock wheels on and had done a baseline, that would def show the gains of the x-pipe. would have been an interesting comparision.
Also, Omey, i did not have any fans running to the intakes. so it does not simulate blowing air like you were on the road. i totally forgot to do that. im sure with that, i would have easily been in the ~305 ish range. i soo badly wanted to break 300... LOL...but that forced air would have leaned out the top end on the A/F too, making it perfect.
would be interesting to see what our tq numbers really are. any ideas Omey?
also, i read that the 02' tend to dyno higher? is this true?
thanks again my friend, your x-pipe mod was worth it!!!
yes as with any last year model pretty much they always dyno the highest for some reason. Even on the old E36 99 M3s, they always dynoed 5-10 HP more than all the others even when rated HP was the same. supposedly some changes were made in 2002 for that extra 5HP in the rating, what it was nobody really knows except AMG engineers and they aren't telling.
based on your HP numbers your real torque numbers would probably be around 333 wheel tq or about 416 crank torque. not bad.
Don't worry, soon you will be able to easily break the 300's and maybe even the 310s (not spilling until it arrives ). Don't worry i got a few tricks up my sleeve which will be helping all of us W210 AMG boys to keep up with the newer AMGs . Hopefully my next one-two punch combo will be able to make you hit that magical barrier of 320 wheel HP (400 crank HP). If the dyno results confirm what i beleive we should all be in great shape.

on a side note... i think due to the 3 dyno pulls i made, the exhaust sounds louder! LOL... musta blown out all that carbon deposits... the x-pipe sounds better then ever! i'll have to get a good vid of that sometime this week.

also, my a/f ratio was pretty damn straight. heres the dyno sheet.
Good #'s ! My #'s(310whp 324wtq) in my sig are on a dynojet prior to any exhaust mods.
It was dynoed in 4th gear and my A/F is very similar to yours Perfect. The car never downshifted as well.
After my exh mod I dynoed on a Dyno Dynamics which gives very low #'s compared to dyno jet and the car put out an impressive 309whp! This dyno is similar to a mustang dyno.

damn coolcar!!! i didn't realize you had a 5.5L in that lil car!!! she must haul MAJOR ass!!! LOL....
yea, i would say with the stock wheels and having blowing air to the air ducts/engine, it should have dyno'd 309 or something similar to yours... that tq though, i wonder what it "really" would be... hmm...
