Spring Perch rust problem?

I was reading about the W210 spring perch rust problem. Has anyone heard of this happening to an E55? I saw a picture of a spring perch that rusted from the inside out so the owner couldn't have prevented it. I wonder if our perch was beefed up for the sport suspension? Terrible design.

As far as I know the only affected of this problems so far are the regulars W210.

It happened to my E50, think the problem is isolated to 97 and possibly earlier W210s
