best run was a 13.85 @ 96mph... i let off to NOT get eliminated but i ended up breaking the time class. I was running 14.0x consistently, i dunno why. i tried diff methods, manual mode, auto mode, with ESP on/off, and 3rd only seemed to be best. i know i coulda made that 13.85 a easy 13.4 or so if i had not let off and coasted thru the light...
ohh well, i had a blast. i raced a SRT8, beat him by .05 sec. thats a 400hp machine there!
60' were 2.0's, R/T was .1xx's. its not bad, but not good... this car is a lil tough to drive for me on the strip, i dunno why... but i had to go out just to see what she would do!
no, i don't have a scanner. i can write here what the times were. have a pic of the run as well as im finishing. Track condition was optimal, dry, 65*F, lil humid. but overall great... will post when i get home but what are you looking for specifically?
Aj
I Took My 02 E55 To The Track Ran It In About 85 Degree Weather And My First Run Was A 13.8 And My Best Run I Pulled A 13.5 Could Have Probably Ran A 13.3 To 13.4 Quarter But I Did Not Let My Car Cool Down Cause Of The Treat Of Rain. I Also Ran 100 Octane Straight I Was Pretty Happy With My Runs. I Do Have A Few Videos With Time Slips But I Would Have To Download Everything To Put Them Up. And If I May Add My Cousin Had His 03 M3 (manual Trans) And He Pulled A Low Of 13.4 At Like 101mph
altitude/weather is one of the biggest factors when drag racing. here in tucson E55s were running 14.2+ for their best just b/c the air here is so bad (2500+ altitude with zero humidity and dirty dry air).
13.8 is pretty normal. i wouldnt let it get you down.
I ran 13.6@ 105 in an e50. the biggest mistake that people make is thinking that these arent high performance cars. they just start them up and wait in line let the fans kick on what have you. The cars are notorious for heating up fast at idle. I push my car all the way to the burnout box, let the asshole in the left lane do whatever then i get in and start the car up with the engine less than 80C. I stage then roll back a little. Put it in D hold the brakes give it a good 4000 rpms, ESP/ASR off and let go of the brake and mash the gas and just focus on the finish line and not give a crap about the other car, or watching my speedo or tach. The first couple of times i tried asr on asr off hold the brake and mash it. ended up with a 14.1 but these cars weigh so much they look like snails of the line. but if you get the wheels spinning a little its BETTER! It goes against conventional wisdom but these cars are odd. just try it on a country road.
put it in D> brake ESP off, rev to 4000 when the tires are spinning, let the brake go and mash it. youll feel more g-force and the car will shoot off faster. These cars act retarded when they go from idle to WOT. Its like hesitates then goes oh shit im supposed to be at WOT.
My RTs using this method are always less then 1 and 60' less than 2sec.
I ran some expirements and kept racing, well once my engine was approaching 90-100 i was running a 14.0 at best, by the time the engine reached 100 after the second heat i ran a 14.105 i just got worse. so the key is a cold engine. and wheel spin is better than trying to roll and stab or just brake and stab.
here is my 13.6 slip. Its great how much data you can figure out from these slips
The verdict in my opinion is that something is wrong with the car. the only reason i think that is your slow speed. you should be running around 103 mph this car should do 0-100 in 12.5sec (euro version) under optimal conditions.
i agreee what omeys comment i got my 13.5 quarter by sport shifting and takin the asr off no spare or tools and i have eliminated my resinator. I must say i was very happy with my time and felt i could have gotten a better time if i let my car sit for a while between runs.
I was running 13.7 to 13.8 before I let some air out of the back tires and started using the burnout box. Then I ran 13.5 twice in a row so traction was definitely an issue. I have no doubt these cars can pull at least a 13.4 with a good launch. If anyone knows what options we have for better rear tires, please speak up. I'd like to get some stickier rear tires on the stock rims, but I don't know if anyone makes anything for 18's. Otherwise, I'm thinking of just getting wider tires like 285s. I burn the tires everywhere in this car. I think the LSD will be my first upgrade before a supercharger because it's already a handful with the rearend that's in it now.
