I can tell you that based on the 349 HP listed for the 2001, that is not supercharged! that is bone stock. Supercharged engine didn't come until the W211 in 2003 +
The 2000 model has upgraded wheels and lower mileage and cost less by $3099. For that money you can get a Nav installed and should have money left over for other mods!
As mentioned here already, there are no supercharged cars from the factory for
2001, which means either the seller has no concept of the vehicle they are selling or the car comes with an aftermarket supercharger. Personally, I would NEVER buy a car that has been modified to that extent -- particularly an E55.
I'm all for someone modding it themselves, but these cars are way too expensive to fix to risk someone else's mods.
Additonally, if it is modded, note that performance modded cars actually sell for a significant discount in the open market, or at best the mods add no value (with the possible exception of Supras or extremely reputable modders like full Dinan BMWS or Brabus Mercedes). Most buyers won't go near a modded car, which is why many people return their cars to stock before selling and part out their mods.
hi and welcome to the forum! i also have just bought mine and am learning, so from my lil experience, i can tell you, the 2000 with 44K miles seems like a better buy. u get wheels with it, which look very nice i might add. Not having the Navi unit, well, its not the best anyways, and i actually rarely use mine. so is it neccessary? I love that interior color, looks awesome!
ohh, you can also get an ext warranty a LOT easier if the car has under 50K miles, which this one does...
that 01' "Supercharged" is a bunch of BS..we all know this. i wouldn't bother buying a car from a seller who knows nothin about what he is pitching..
The Mercedes Benz Command 2.0 are far behind the modern Nav units. I just updated my cd's to the 11/05 version. The command system is light years behind the Nav systems such as Pioneer AVIC D1. The only reason I don't take mine out and replace it is because I would loose all the steering wheel controls for the radio and phone (I use Argos) So IMHO you can do without the Command System!
