K&N Filter + New MAF + Throttle body cleaning .....

hey guys,

Just got my all my parts in finally. The K&N's will be going in today along with a bunch of other stuff. Going to add some Rislone (helps quiet noisy lifters and etc) as well. The throttle body will also need a good cleaning. I can't wait to see what the car feels like with the new stuff. anyways i'll be posting updates real soon, gonna go install them right now.

I noticed that my A/F ratio was still too rich at the higher RPM during the dyno, so maybe adding the K&N filter, replacing the MAF and removing the resonators may help me get back some of the RWHP that Jeremy got on his car (his A/F ratio was around 13 at maximum HP while mine was around 12). Both car has about the miles.

2nd batch. this gives you a good idea of what the airbox is like. The fins were very interesting and the theme is continued over to the throttle body elbow (as shown before).

I know mine wasn't at 13.1, that is Jeremy number, mine was at 12.1 which indicate that I'm not getting enough airflow.

Hai, try to change your air filter first, mine is @ 13.0

Thumbs up

Hey boys, back from the test drive...

WOOOWW!!!! Its a whole new ballgame. Car feels COMPLETELY different now. Its an absolute torque monster now and the K&N's definitely helped out with the engine noise, almost sounds kinda supercharged (as alot of the old benz V8s do.). The car feels fantastic now. its shifting better. better responce, less unnecessary downshifting. Overall fantastic mod. For $170 i got MAF and a pair K&N filters talk about a steal . definitely a must do. I cannot wait for temps to really get cold here in AZ, car could put down some mad power. I still want to really do X-pipes but first i want to get a baseline with the new setup. I feel the car may take a week to fully adadpt to new A/Fs and new MAF so i'll let it "adapt". The shifting is definitely much better and the tranny feels brand new again no more hesitation and etc. Motor lights up the wheels with ease and traction control kicking in as it should under full power .

One thing i did notice though is I have HUGE power drop after 5500rpm, is this normal? after 5500 the car just really starts to die off power wise, either the car hasn't adapted to the new stuff yet or my A/Fs are off in that range. Before that though its a MONSTER. I love it

anyways two thumbs up!
