Oxygen Sensor Please HELP!

Hi All!

I got trouble codes P0133 and the P0144 on my E420 1997 which are
O2 Bank 1 Sensor 1 Malfunction and No activity.

Could you please let me know wheer I can find DIY step by step instructions on how to install Oxygen sensors or I just need to replace MAF instead.

Please advise. I would really appreaciate your help!!!
THANK YOU!

hi philly,
you don't need to replace your MAF at this time, just replace the O2 sensor.
The two sides of the engine are referred to as banks. Bank 1 contains cylinder #1, the opposite side being bank 2. Sensor #1 is the sensor before the cat. converter(upstream) and sensor #2 being after the cat(downstream.) MAF would not cause the codes you have.

Take care & enjoy the ride,
Joseph

I am having the same problem but with sensor two on bank 1. I read here on another post that bank 1 was drivers side but i replaced the sensor on drivers side and I still have the light...I think i agree with you that bank 1 is passenger side.
