... Oh, if you want to get that black carbon off your AMG exhaust tips, just grab a soft 100% cotton t-shirt and some Mother's billet aluminum polish and rub away for about 10 minutes. Eventually, the carbon will come off and your tips will look brand new again

Sand paper???
Rubbing for 10 minutes??
I use Ford branded 'Automotive Bright Metal Cleaner 8A-19522' that I've had for years (it's dated 1973), and just wipe some on, let it sit for a few minutes, and wipe/polish it off. It did a great job of cleaning my AMG tips that I think had 7 years, and 93,000 miles of caked on black crud. It works great on all chrome including my grill chrome and little plastic chrome covered license plate bolt covers. The label says: "Bright Metal Cleaner works more by dissolution than by friction so excessive rubbing is unnecessary" and warns that it contains 'Ammonia and Ammonium Oxalate', so maybe those are the active ingredients. Use gloves!
