After taking out the rear seat bottom (to check fuses). I noticed it is also the location of the battery as well. I have done many light weight battery conversions so that could be a great way to save a good 20-40lbs (depending on which batter you get) and also that coupled with spare tire removal and jack/tools removal could add up to a significant amount of weight (A good 100lbs+). However it will obviously have an effect on weight distribution, and also there will be less weight on the rear wheels to that may cause slightly more traction problems.
I ditched my spare, jack, and tools as well...hopefully I never get a flat. I usually run Optima batteries in my vehicles. I wonder if the MBZ battery can be replaced with one of those?

I have a AAA plus membership so i can get flatbed towed anywhere up to 100 miles for free so i never have to worry about that. So i plan on ditching my spare tire, jack and tools nad etc. You can even go more extreme and get the Odyssey battery (weights only 15 pounds). I used it in my M3 for over a year and it worked fantastic. i think 100lbs would really help out acceleration quite a bit but there would be slightly less traction, however im always carrying people around anyways so it may not really matter. another reason i'd like to take some extra weight off the rear axle is that my rear end is slightly lower so by taking some weight out it would even out the height on both front & rear. anyways just a suggestion.
naw i want simple cost effective weight reduction modifications that do not require greatly altering the exterior of the car (along with the cash in my wallet).

...........yes you can. I have the 25pound odyssey battery. Have had it for 4 months.I was talked out of the 15 pound battery by the seller because of his concern for the cold cranking power in winter. Also no spare tire, no spare tire well, no jacks. Not risk free, but when did you last use your spare tire?
