Hey everyone, been following your forum for a month or so now. I can now say I can officially join the club. Just wrapped up my purchase of a 99 E55. I haven't picked it up yet, but the "to do" list grows with everyday that I check-in on the forum.
Just wanted to introduce myself and see what sort of advice people have to offer for a noobie...
Oh yeah, if you need a root canal and are located in the San Diego area, I'm your man.
Hopefully the car has been all checked out with a clean bill of health and then I'd say take a few hours and drive the car.
Sometime during your drive when you have some open road come to a stop, leave it in drive, turn the traction control off, power brake the car to about 1,500rpm and nail the gas at the same time take your foot off the brake and let the car run thru the gears up to 120/125mph and run it there for a while.
This test drive will self explain the three letters AMG.
I don't know how the above experience compares to performing a root canal but I guarantee its better then getting one!

Welcome to the board. Always nice to see another 99' E55. What are your plans for modding? The first thing I did was change the rear lights and side markers.

Looking to do basics, K&N, interior this & that, etc. I did have one particular question about in-dash navi units. Maybe I should be starting a new thread here, but I checked out the Pioneer units and they seem really great, anyone have different suggestions?
Also, is it possible to do the lit door sills on the W210? I've looked all over the place and all I can find is the W211. If available, is it a hard install?
Congrats! I have a 97 E50 same body style and when i get back to the states im going to stick with a 99 E55 because i think it just looks better than the 00+

There are many website for the door sills. Ebay has a ton of them. Mymercedes.com is a common site
