Hi my name is Kevin and I am new to this site. I have 2 questions. 1 is are there any good transmission upgrades for a 2000 e55. The second question that i just noticed in my car is that it seems to be louder then it use to be. The sound is more seems like it is getting to much air. It isnt overheating or anything of that sort I was just wondering if it could be an intake or a sensor??
Check to make sure your airbox is still connected everywhere. It just pushes in place. As far as beefing your trans, Renntech is the only one I know of. I believe the upgrade is $2,500.00 if you send your trans to them. They add an additional clutch and some other items to increase it's max torque capacity. Shouldn't be necessary unless you're running some type of FI.
JamE55 is running the complete Kleemann system and I believe his trans is still stock . So far, so good. Of course, $2,500.00 is a lot less than fixing a grenaded trans and then beefing it, so that's probably not a bad idea if the budget allows. I'm still running a stock trans as well and it's hangin' in there for now.
