I have a black/charcoal E420 that just turned 31,000 miles yesterday (04/16/04). The car came with the Bose stereo, hands free phone and CD changer as options. The interior is immaculate from the carpeting to the headliner and the paint is still glossy. It looks and runs like new. I have been very aggressive with the maintenance (always ahead of schedule) and the car needs NOTHING. I also have a set of brand new Bilstein HD shocks still in the boxes and a set of winter floormats, cargo cover and summer mats (I always keep the original factory mats covered. They are in like new condition). Lastly, I have a set of Bridgestone Blizzaks that I use for winter driving. They were new in December and have very few miles on them. The car has been garaged except for the last 2 winters. There is no rust on this car. I am asking $24,500. My reason for selling it is that I have the opportunity to pick up an E55. You won't find a better maintained, pampered, trouble free and tight as new E420 anywhere. If anyone is interested in more detail, please let me know.
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. If I don't get the E55, I'll likely keep my car. I bought the shocks figuring that some day the originals would wear out. If I keep E420, I'll want to keep the shocks as well.
I just sold my 99 E430 Sport for $20,000 and it was perfect with new tires, Premier/Bose stereo, XM Radio, interior looked new, and carpets were perfect. Good luck with your sale but you will be waiting a long time for that amount. I purchased a perfect E55 for not much more than you are asking for the E420.
Glad to hear you got a perfect E55. You didn't mention the model year or mileage, but if you got it for little more than I was asking for my E420, sounds like you made out pretty well. You also didn't mention the mileage on your E430. If it was as perfect as you say, and the mileage was low, somebody got a good deal. According to NADA (I just looked it up before writing this), the average retail for my car is $22,975.00. My car is the cleanest 97 I've ever seen. With it's obvious care and options I was offering (I didn't mention them all), I thought my price was a fair place to start. As it turned out, the E55 I wanted is gone. I've decided to keep my 97 for the time being. Enjoy that E55!
