Sounds like his Vette must have had a supercharger if he was going to keep up with a blown E55 or that lady wasn't trying to race. It was most likely a ZO6 and a 210 E55. A 210 E55 is just as quick or quicker than a C5 Corvette but a 211 E55 will blow its doors off.
No, supercharger but I do have headers and K&N filter. My friend said the same thing about the current M3. His dealer told him that the old M3 would keep up with a Vette but the new one is faster. Three runs on 360 don't lie. I don't know the difference between the 210 and 211. It was the current body style though and a beautiful car. He acted the same way the Carrera 4 and M3 (the one I beat the other day) did. Once I was clearly ahead they slowed and would not close no matter how slow I went. I can only think it was embarrassment. He took off hard and I had to put it to the floor to slowly catch him. He was trying. The E55 has 100 hp on the Vette but does 0-60 in the roughly the same time. Must be the weight and drag coefficient. We were racing up the hill from the light at the Steiner Ranch entrance on 620 north before the Oasis turn off.[:0][V]
"No, supercharger but I do have headers and K&N filter."
With the K&N FIBK & headers you would be quicker than a 210 E55 but you would still get absolutely smoked by a 211 E55. They are conservatively rated at 469 hp & 516 lb-ft of tq but they are really closer to 500 hp. A K&N and headers will not get you in that game.
For kicks, I looked up the performance specs of a C5 Corvette and a 2003 E55 AMG. 0-130 in the Corvette C5 takes 20.5 seconds but the E55 takes just 16 seconds. You probably couldn't even see the back of the E55 by the time you reached 130 mph. If you were in a ZO6, the Z06 reaches 100 mph in 10.8 seconds and the E55 reaches it in 9.8 seconds.......still smoked!
In a drag race, you would have to be a perfect driver to achieve a 13.0 second 1/4 mile in a manual Corvette, but you can achieve mid to low 12's in a 211 E55 all day long with very little effort. Get all your Corvette buddies and tell them to go to Silver Dollar Speedway in Atlanta GA on the 28th of this month and see what they can do against some whimpy four door luxo cruiser.....well, acccording to your bragging self. Put-up or shut-up as they say! Here is a link to a group of E55 guys that like to drag:

I figured you were taliking about yourself when you started this thread. Here is you chance to prove how fast your Vette is against an E55. Everybody will be there to see your smokin' fast German luxo cruiser abuser. If you can't make this race and are in a different area of the country, I'll see if I can get you dates and times for an AMG drag racing get together in your area.
Here is some nice reading material for you:

Road and Track June 2003:
0-60mph 1/4mile
E55 4.2 12.4@116.4mph
Corvette Z06 4.5 12.8@113.5mph
Corvette 4.9 13.4@107.5mph
That is just plain stupid.
And 360 is littered with cops.
I like corvettes, but not the image. You just reconfirmed why I would not want to be caught dead in one.
Hi guys…I was told to check this out…
You are correct…360 can be littered with cops. I know the guy who says he out ran that E55. I looked and he also mentioned that he didn’t know if it was a 210 or 211. It sounds like it probably was a 210. They are both beautiful cars.
I do take issue with the corvette image comment…
The first responder used facts to make his point…point well taken. I have lived in ATL for a long time…my folks still live there.
The second guy is just plain rude. There is no need for that, and it speaks more about your image than corvette drivers.
We vette guys always think that BMW and Mercedes get a pass by the press. If any of you have seen a bone stock E55 211 make a ¼ mile pass…I wonder if it is inline with the R/T times. But for us domestic types for example, the Z06 from C/D Road test turned 4.0 from 0-60…and I turned a 12.6 my first time in a Z06 and it wasn’t my car. I do have an ‘01 coupe. My best times bone stock were 13.2’s. I’ve since done some miner mods and run 13.0…haven’t broke in the 12’s yet…will soon though. If I was in Atlanta, I’d love to go down to the track…you know as well as I do that reaction time is just about everything. I’d be happy to make a pass against one of you guys…win or lose. All I’m saying is that my experience and those of my friends are that the imports are never as fast as they say they are…I burn stuff down all the time that I shouldn’t.
But I will say this…we both have manuals…the automatics are much much slower. In fact…I’m writing my congressman to ban automatics period (less torque, worse gas mileage).

0-60mph 1/4mile
E55 4.2 12.4@116.4mph <mailto:12.4@116.4mph> --(haven’t seen a ¼ pass)
Corvette Z06 4.5 12.8@113.5mph <mailto:12.8@113.5mph> (way under what I’ve observed)
Corvette 4.9 13.4@107.5mph <mailto:13.4@107.5mph> (13.2’s at 109’s)
A bone stock 210 E55 on street tires runs the 1/4 mile from 12.98 low side to a 13.4 pretty consistently. A bone stock 211 E55 runs the 1/4 mile in 12.2 to 12.4 and will do so repeateadly on street tires. With drag radials, I've heard some guys say they are getting in the 11's. The Mercedes automatic shifts much faster than is humanly possible so the car would actually be slower with a manual on the drag strip. Heck, according to Car and Driver March 2004, the new Mercedes SL600 does 0-60 in 3.6 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 11.9 @120 mph on factory tires. Mercedes maks some hella fast cars these days. A new 211 E55 will beat a new Viper 90% of the time in a drag race unless the Viper driver is an absolute pro.
Don't discount a Mercedes and think your Vette or even a ZO6 is quicker because many of the new Mercedes are as quick or quicker than the ZO6 and will chew your Vette up and spit it out faster than you can read this! They have a few new models that will be coming out very soon. They intend to release a CL65 that has 618 hp and over 700 lb of tq. The car should be able to do the 1/4 mile in the mid 11's. There are some big four door S600's rolling around that will absolutely embarass a ZO6 in the 1/4 mile. Take a stock hunkin' luxo cruser S600 and add a Renntech chip and you can get in the 11's! http://www.treynor.com/S600_dyno.wmv

I think the second guy was just pointing out the fact that you sound like a real tool. You may or may not be one but coming on a Mercedes forum and trying to put down a car that will blow the doors off your Vette is no way to win friends or win arguments. Not to mention, your ignorance does nothing positive to the image of many Corvette owners....in other words, you sound like a meat head. You may be a great guy but starting a conversation with terd throwing is no way to act....even for a Vette owner.
You may have caught that E55 off guard but I'd bet that the girl, no doubt in a 210 E55, could whip your arse in a 1/4 mile drag race on 9 out of ten times in that slush box Mercedes. The 210 E55's are so unbelievably easy to launch that they will return some very consistent 1/4 mile times in the low 13's but you will struggle to get the Vette in the low 13's in a 1/4 mile drag unless you are an exceptional driver. Most of the Z06's I've seen usually don't muster better than a 12.7 1/4 mile on a drag strip. Sure, a ZO6 can run in the mid 12's but it is rare to find someone that can drive that well. A 211 E55 will run in the low 12's with a rooky driver.
This is what happened to the last person who thought his car was better than a Benz.

A lesson to learn here... Vette drivers are as arrogant as BMW drivers.
I wouldn't lump all Vette drivers with this tool. I traded a Vette on my E55. I wanted similar performance with room for the wife and kids. 99% of the vette owners I knew were respectful, upstanding folks.
Unfortunately, as with any 'hot rod' you are going to get the young'ens who just want an extension of their wankers. Try going in a Mustang chatroom once, you'll get a whole 'nuther appreciation for Vette owners!
Since I work for the General (motors that is), I'll be going back to my bowtie when I sell my Benz. Not because it is faster (it isn't), but because I can get a helluva discount on a convertible Vette.
Plus I have something else to haul the kiddies around in so I can have a 'me' car. (Escalade--thank you GM discount!).
