problems with air mass valve

I have a 2002 E55, the air mass valve has already been replaced three times, the car tends to choke off when shifting from 2nd to 3rd, specially when it's cold. The dealer keeps on changing the valve but it seems the problem is deeper, any ideas anybody?

RE: problems with air mass valve

Are you sure they are actually changing the MAF? A good MAF should be good for another 50,000 miles. Order one yourself and change it out. The whole procedure takes about 5 minutes.
