Unsolicited (really) endorsement ...
I just put some new brake pads on my 2000E55. The stock pads worked great, but I couldn't stand the frickin black dust all over my AMG wheels.
Tried the PORTERFIELD pads - No Noise, Great Feel, and Very Little dust. My MB dealer installed them for me @ $100 per axle (what the heck, do it right the first time).
WHAT AN IMPROVEMENT. My two bits.. - 2000BEAST

I think that part of having a Benz is cleaning it every morning, along with brushing your teeth, and taking a shower. Otherwise I agree, I have seen an SLK in my area with whells that looked like somebody put charcoal on them.

Ditto...
I changed to the Porterfields in Nov. I now clean the 55's wheels only every 2 weeks. I gotta get 'em for the wife's SLK. -HarleyB

RE: Unsolicited (really) endorsement ...
Good call, I need to find something which doesn't make my E look as if its been raced 24/7, I tend to drive my 280 slow but whenever I get home my new rims look grey!! I guess it has alot to do with the multispoke design,.... which is needed for cooling in such a hot climate.[:(!]
Thanks for the heads up.
