Hi everybody.
I am new to this forum, as I am to Mercedes. I recently bought a 1999 E 220 CDI (Wagon)with styled (dark) tail lights, and the warning light that indicates a dead lamp is illuminated all the time. The MB dealer thinks this is because of the taillight "upgrade", and could not make it go away. every other lightbulb is checked, and is working ok.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
It could be that you are using LED light or light bulb that have less current draw.
Since the LED bulbs draw such little current, our exclusive load equalizers are required for proper functioning with turn signal applications, as well as with vehicles equipped with a "Bulb Out" warning system. Without the Load Equalizer, the "Bulb Out" system senses that a bulb has been burnt out (because of the low current draw), when in fact it has not. Without the Load Equalizer paired the turn signals, the system will flash the turn signal bulbs very rapidly, for the same reasons.
