Garage Opening

Arrrggg... I've got a 97 E420, but cannot get the garage door opener to work! I'm starting to wonder whether the 97 model supports rolling codes.

Garage uses a CodeDodger Remote. Here's what I've done:

1. Reset the unit in the car; press two outer buttons for a long time till everything blinks.

2. Press the "train" button up on the opener unit near the roof of the garage

4. Press a button on the visor remote and hold it in.

5. Press the button on my normal CodeDodger remote and hold it close to the visor for a while.

No luck! This is driving me crazy. Any ideas?

I think you are missing a step. Programming the visor unit and programming the door unit are two separate actions. I went through this same scenario several times before finally getting all the sequences just right. I had my daughter help with this process...she worked the visor unit while I worked the learning button on the door unit. All programming of the door unit must be completed within 30 seconds of pushing the learning button.

Follow the instructions on this link for more precise info.

Good luck. Mine works like a charm, now that I finally followed the step-by-step instructions.

Programming Homelink on a '99 E320

Tried all the suggestions but no go. Appears garage door opener is too old, 14+ years. There is no training function on the unit. If anyone has been succesful with an older unit please advise procedure. It's a Moore o Matic, model 800.

Thanks

My method...

I have a '96 E320 and garage door openers that are pretty old (15 yrs+).

1) Get the existing clicker that works the garage door (a remote that already works the opener).
2) Drive away from your garage door (just far enough to not activate it while you're programming it).
3) Hold down the button in on the visor until its light blinks.
4) Hold down the button on your existing clicker until the visor light blinks fast.
5) Release both.

This did the trick on the first try with my '96.
