Service Engine light

I'm new to benz, just bought a 95 E320 with 160k-Km on it. Like what I see so far, but the "Service Engine" light just turned on.

From you technically minded individuals, is there a way for me to query the system? The control module near the battery looks very similar to my volvo's and they can be queryed (insert the ground, turn key on, count the red diode blips.) If this is true, are the error codes of the OBD published on line some place and what number do you ground out?

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

can't help you out on that question, but I've heard the air sensors are often the source of the check engine indicator on the W210's

Even a bad gas cap can give you a check engine light so it is hard to determine what caused it to go on without running the codes from the ECU. The dealership is the best place to take it. It could be something minor if the car is running fine with it on. Any of the emmission controls can set it off.
