Just got the mirrors in, does anyone have<br> some advice on installation? For U.S. spec<br> cars, 1999, do I still have to change the <br> adapter on the 2000 mirror to fit the 1999<br> adapter or vice versa. Is it possible to <br> install without removing the door panels?
Dj,thanks for the tips on the tail lights. On the blinking mirror issue, do a search for this on the forum search, this was discussed somewhat recently I believe, and the installation topic was covered on a few areas. Hope this helps.
I took apart my old and new mirrors to look at the motors. My original ones (1996 E-Class) are memory motors and the new ones (2001 E-Class) are not. I saw that the 3 mounting holes were almost the same so I swapped them from the old to the new mirrors. The old motors fit on the new mirrors with only a fraction of a difference. The motor mounts to the mirror glass in exactly the same way. I was able to use the original wire harness this way as well. All I had to change was the socket for the mirror heater and add two wires for the blinker connector.

They fit great
Swap the whole mirror but save the wiring. Add a couple of wires for the blinkers and tap in to the taillights.
