Service Action #01-0799 - Check & Repair Both Seam Sealer on front spring support (damage code 062900398) 
 
From the notice, it said the suspension may be prone to corrosion due to bad sealer.

I have a 96 model and I received a recall notice to take my car to any mercedes dealer to reseal the spring towers

Folks--PLEASE help me with this issue. I have a '96 210 and the passenger side front spring mount rusted straight through! I was driving recently and the car suddenly dipped down and a spring ejected from the bottom. The car is being repaired at the moment and Mercedes is telling me they will not help defray the costs. The car has 100,008 miles on it, which they say far exceeds the warranty. I am seriously contemplating legal action... Does anyone have a recall code that I can use in my defense? Thanks ever so much!

I'm not sure, I lost the recall notice. So here's what's written on the work order: Recall Re: Front Spring Towers Service Action #01-0799: Check and repair both sem sealer on front spring support (Damage Code 062900398) 023411 Check and Repair both seam sealer on front spring support. MAybe that'll help? ..I'm in Toronto, btw

OKay--thanks. I've been dealing with MB for several weeks now about this issue and finally got the car back today, but had to foot the $580 USD bill. I'll post an update once I (hopefully) get some assistance from MB. There probably aren't many W210's with over 100k miles on them like mine, and perhaps mine may be one of the first that has developed this problem (spring cup rust). Thanks again!

Have a 1997 e 420 that the front right spring pad upper was rusted befor i bought the car dealer had to fix warranty payed by mercedes car only had 42.600 one year a go nice car lots of power DOUG B. PS DRY TO KEEP SPEED DOWN UNDER 120 CAR GETS LOUD AT THAT SPEED RIDES NICE AT 80.

doug, I don't know why your E420 gets loud at 120mph but I don't have that problem. Have reached 130mph in my E420 on a couple of occassions and didn't hear or feel a thing and mine has 136k miles on it! I drive between 90-100 all the time and the car runs great. Might have to have yours checked out...
