E430 Sport Wheels

Considering one of the following AMG Monoblock wheel packages for my '01 E430 Sport using Dunlop Sport9000 tires.
Option 1
Front: 18x8 / 235/40
Rear: 18x9 / 265/30
Option 2
Front: 17x7.5 / 235/45
Rear : 17x8.5 / 255/40
I would love to go with the 18's however I am conserned about going to an almost E55 configuration without the E55 suspension mods. Those riding on 18's, how does the car feel? Any and all input welcomed

Re: E430 Sport Wheels

If you're going to spend the money, I would definitely go to 18. The ride is still very good and you can do suspenstion mods afterwards if you feel necessary. I believe you want 35 profile in the rear, not 30.
I replied again over at Edmunds.

I post as taison in Edmunds.com
Pirelli P7000 Sport is what I got.
The staggered setup is sweet. I'll try and get some pics this weekend.
What I really want to do now is lower it though.

I guess I just needed some reasuring that the car could handle it. I'd love to see your car before and after lowering it.

I probably won't lower it for a while though.

Get the staggered 18-inch setup...

There's not a problem with the suspension being able to handle the 18" wheels. The 18" wheels are going to firm up the ride a bit, so you might even consider leaving the suspension alone so the car rides softer, depending on what you like.
Check http://www.autoclass.net for a good price on the wheels.
You can also get both wheels and tires from http://www.tirerack.com.
BTW, the 17x8.5 wheels aren't recommended for the rear of the E-class. I don't know why, though.

Re: Get the staggered 18-inch setup...

Thanks Brian, I was leaning toward the 18" staggered setup. I've read about the E55 having too stiff a ride so I think 18's and stock E430 suspension will give me the perfect ballance between sport and luxury, as well as one awesome looking car.
