There's a ton of grime on the port side coils as well around the oil fill riser. Is it safe to pressure wash these areas? What kind of work is needed to stop the leaks? Is the oil filler riser grime just bad aim?
That looks like bad oil filing job to me.
Anyway, I never hesitated to wash my engines with water and only old Fiats come with occasional misfire when I got the plugs wet.
That would dry out and stop.
Still not recommended to spray water on coils and electronic modules.
I would buy "Engine bright" stuff and spray the gunk before washing with water.
For semi-solid stuff you can pick wood spatulas at Home Depot. They give paint mixing sticks for free.
Looks like leaking seal on the neck connection to me.
You need to reseal both valve covers and replace the valve cover gaskets to stop all the leaks. Big pain in the arse job. Check the stickies on how to do it.
Could be a combination of bad oil filling and leaking breather covers. Get it cleaned off good and then observe for a while to see if a source can be determined.
