Hey guys, please educate me on the W210 AC, to tell you the history, when I bought the car in 2013, the AC worked but hissed when I turned it on, so I got it recharged in mid 2013...since then, even today it works and doesn't really hiss but it left on for more than 20 mins continuously without turning it off, the EC light comes on and stays on and I get the low refrigerant code in the climate control unit and I would have to reset it for it to turn on, but the problem only occurs if I leave the AC on for more than 20 mins continuously. Also is it normal for the AC to not activate until the car is warmed up after 10-15 mins of driving? So do I have a bad sensor or something or am I a little low on the Freon? Remember that the AC doesn't really hiss now.
If you know how to reset the a/c refrigerant low code, I assume you know how to obtain the sensor values . Please post them when the a/c is turned on and the engine is running, when the a/c starts to cool, and when you have the EC low light come on, so we have some idea what the issue is.
How the a/c unit determines the refrigerant is low is a matter of some software algorithm that takes into account many different sensor readings, so it may take some time for the condition to be confirmed.
i have a problem with this as it conveys a lazy and lethargic response on my
part. at no time have i ever received any communique from kajtek1 on a
specific post or link to update in PM or via the 'notify administrator' alert.
periodically, I've seen casual references to threads with no specifics. the last
time I inquired from him for specifics, I received no response. so, if someone
notices a dead ended link, just post the link to the thread and I'll shut it down.
posting a complaint to the masses in non-specific terms doesn't work as I do
not read every thread/post
Kris, if you write a good article on using the ACC to show sensor readings, I'm sure Raymond could be persuaded to put it in the Stickies Table of Contents.
I add comment on Mbmedic site and it is good info now. I still see couple of small glitches on it, but MBmedic administrator is long-time benzworld contributor and I like what he does and am pretty sure in the matter of days the glitches will be corrected.
So for now on, for AC troubleshooting use the link in stickies to MBMedic site.
I am visual guy, so like youtube, but lot of those videos keep you listening to author whining.
You need the full sensor information, not just refrigerant pressure. Both readings are abnormal, but these need to be correlated with other sensor values. Make sure your condenser / radiator fan(s) work (fan test).
I posted that 200 times already, I can do 201
Do sensor readout number 1 to 8 twice
1 in the morning before engine start and before sun will warm up the car
2 in the afternoon few seconds after engine restart in the car with hot cabin.
than if you can -observe pressure #7 during driving.
You did respond Raymond, that you choose to give "more time" to link that was dead in stickies for 2 years.
That was about 2 years ago if you can remember.
Now the dead link is removed and MBMedic site is linked.
Problem is that the site give instruction how to read the data, but not when.
We have AC troubleshooting system developed here since Mat was moderator, yet it can't be in stickies for some reasons.
well, basically, I'm still getting the "hey you left a window open in the house"
but nothing specific as to which window.
provide a link to the posting with the dead link and I'll remove it. doesn't help
me ID something from 2 yrs ago.
also, if you have a better suggestion for improving the accuracy of a procedure
(i.e. when to read the data) which would assist other 210 owners, by all means,
append and add to the appropriate discussion thread. this is inherently how
public forums function... through the contributions of the participants, rather
than pulling into the McDonalds drive thru window and placing an order. if I have
insight into how something should be done certainly, I will post my contributions
p.s. actually we're hijacking the OP's discussion so we should continue via PM
if needed
3 bars on warm car usually triggers low refrigerant code and stops AC.
Your report that it was 20 just moment earlier does not compute.
Recheck the sensors in the morning before engine start.
See, now THAT information needs to be in the Sticky, as well as how to access the hidden Climatronic menu(s).
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
