I have been searching this subject for a couple days now and have found a couple similar cases but nothing exact.
its possible i forgot to turn my dome light off the other night and now my car is dead, i thought the switchblade key fob died but i got new batteries in it and it still wont unlock. nor will the key unlock the trunk or the passenger side door. i keep reading that i need to program it by holding it too the sensor and then insert it to the ignition. only problem is i cant get in the freaking car.
Your car is having mechanical lock only on passenger door and trunk. Keep exercising the lock on the door till you open it. Than you can replace the battery and get on your way.
How hard is it to get the key to turn. I tried a little yesterday. Doesn't help that it's like 5 degrees out right now. My dad tried a lubricant and deicer earlier today idk how long. I was at work.
So the tumbler moves, but something holds it after slight turn?
You might have some damage to internal mechanism.
Other option is to call roadside assistance and they will use their tricks to get the door open. How does the trunk lock work?
I couldn't get the key to turn at all. And it barly goes into the trunk. I called them and they said there would be a cost but he didn't know how much. I think the local tow people can get me in for like 50 bucks. But after I'm in. Charge/replace battery and it should e good?
Once you put good battery - your central locking will work, although I am not sure if your remote might need synchronization.
This way or the other you need to restore your locks as this might happen again.
WD40 is pretty good cleaner and gunk loosening solvent. Not good for regular lubrication, but you don't worry about it now. Keep on spraying WD40 inside the locks and playing with them. Sometimes it takes a day with several tries, but eventually the gunk will break loose.
