Valve cover gasket leak...?

Hi y'all! Was hoping someone could tell me if this is the result of a valve cover gasket leak. Cleaned it up a bit, but it was pretty soaked in oil/dirt. Thanks for any/all help

that looks pretty clean to me. i wouldn't call that a leak, maybe a little "sweat". nothing to worry.

tirona- It WAS dirty before I cleaned it lol... The facing that has the serial numbers R119... was completely covered in oily dirt. Could smell the burnt motor oil. I though it might be the round circular thing leaking (cam position sensor) but I think it might be the valve cover gasket... maybe. Thanks for the reply

Slow down your blazin' for a minute.

Please take the time to click user cp and edit details to add your vehicle and location to your profile, it's often useful information when you're seeking assistance.

I'm guessing you drive a 1997 E420...if so it might also help to take a slightly wider-angle picture to provide some perspective. That said, cam position sensors have been known to leak, so I'd actually pull that one and clean it up some more, then drive and watch it. It would be strange to have a valve cover gasket leaking only in that location, too.

Good luck.

Hi check codes! Thanks for the reply . I'll fill out my cp info once I'm home... And yes ive got a 97' e420 with the M119 engine. Good eye sir ...

The cam position sensor is simply removed by taking out the Allen bolts holding it in place and disconnecting the sensor correct? No other catches? Both left and right sides of the engine have the same leak coming from I presume the same cause. Looked around and the only oil that is evident is along the front on both sides... Thank u for the help ! Much appreciated
