Hey folks- I'm trying to help a good friend of mine in finding some aftermarket 19" wheels for his '02 4matic E430.
He'd like to go with the most aggressive setup as possible without rubbing as this car will be used as a daily. There are future plans for a mild drop with aftermarket springs.
My questions are directed towards you 4matic guys...is the 4matic system sensitive to a staggered setup?
For those of you running 19's what are your offsets and widths?
Don't think there is too many owners of 19" wheels, but more with 18" like I put on our family sedan lately. My offset is about 36 for 8" rims and the wheels stick out more than original. Not something you will notice unless you compare 2 cars side by side.
Don't think 4M is more sensitive than ESP on 2WD.
Putting staggered wheels is doable like AMG models have it from the factory, but require careful tire matching.

Great, thanks for your input. Coming from the Quattro world some people tend to disagree with a staggered setup on the awd system but I'm sure the 4m system works differently.
Youre correct on then 19's on the 4m...I've done a lot of searching and haven't seen any on the 4m.
Again, I am not sure if ESP of 4M works differently. Why would it?
Sure 4M and staggered wheels don't make much sense. Since all wheels are drive wheels, where would you put the wider tires ?
I have 18 x 8.5 all around and I don't think you can go much wider up front without pulling/rolling the fenders. I think my wheels are et 38 with a 10mm spacer the fronts are very close to the fender.

I would think the wider tires would go on the left side..jk
Illest- fitment looks just right. Better than stock and not too aggressive.
