Car loses power when I step on the gas.

I have a 1998 e430 with 70k on it.

I have replaced the MAF 3 times in the last year( keep getting that code). I keep getting the CEL with the codes for the IAT and MAF.

I have checked the filter and that all the connections are good but the car still hesitates when i step on it. I can bring the car up to speed gradually but when I accelerate to quickly it feels like it chokes out. I don't think its a trans problem more of a air problem.

Any suggestions

You car complains about the MAF and also shows symptoms of a faulty MAF. I wonder, what brand of MAF you used. If you bought anything other than BOSCH or from the dealer, will not work. If you bought Bosch and still have the problem, check the connection again this time in detail.

Dont forget to be EXTRA gentle with the MAF. They are super sensitive to damange. Rumor has it K&N style filters, or more specifically their recharge oil, will destroy a MAF quickly.

Thanks James and Eagle

I am guilty as charged and have not replaced it with a Bosh but a after market MAF. I have put 3 aftermarket ones in (they were free) and everyone showed the same symptoms. I just thought what are the odds of all three not working.

I will buy a bosh and report back.

James, I have a clean stock filter in the car so no KN. I haven't heard good things about KN filters in our cars

Your car will be running soon Make sure you delete the fault codes after replacing the MAF with Geniune BOSCH.
