Can someone please post the part number for the xenon headlight level sensor
the connecting rod(#4) is broken at the joint. There is no more plastic piece to hold that "ball joint" in place. Can someone please post the part number for this, I assume its a dealer only item cause I can't find it on aftermarket sites.
This part according to the site is called the, "Front Axle Headlamp Range Adjustment Sensor"
for 1997 E420
Thanks
Brandon

Hey guys I'm following up on this part. The arm or rod has separated on both the front and rear axle and I want that cool factor on my headlamps when they adjust themselves...I've only witnessed this on a 98 CL500 which a BMW dealership let me take home for a weekend to test drive, amazing car.
Anyways I've only found Mercedes Benz of south Atlanta that has this part. Where else could I get this?
I couldn't find it anywhere. So I called several MB dealerships some in CA, TX, HI, and others. I found one on ebay but the seller only sold the rod with the adjustment sensor. I reached MB of Cincinnati and ordered the part through them. Overall it only cost about $35 which included shipping.
According to ALLDATA if the sensor(A52) were to be replaced you'd have to program using something called "HHT"...what is this? It says to program at zero position. Do you think it needs to be programed again if it were not disconnected? If I do need a programming and it is only a MB tool then I'll have to turn it in for programming at a shop.
I can see the rear rod is also not attached...I'll order this one if it can't be repaired, I haven't thoroughly checked.
Just a tip.
MB of Honolulu does not return calls. I must have left 2 messages over a period of a few months.

My rear rod broke at one end. I ordered a new one...but while waiting for it to arrive I drilled it and fitted a nut and bolt. That was three years ago. I still have the new rod for when the temporary fix fails!

Interesting if you have the time can you post a pic of yours? I'm surprised there's not much info on this in the search function. If I can do what you did that'd be fine with me as long as it works.
It's a ball and socket affair. The ball sits in a nylon socket. I drilled through the nylon socket. Can't take photo...it's cold and wet and dirty now.

No problem on the pictures. Here's what I'm looking at... I'm wondering how the unattached side works.
