Help! E300TD Trunk release switch on console

Hello all,

This ones a weird one. I can operate the trunk release via key fob, locally at the trunk key hole, but when I try to release the trunk from the console I get nothing. The light comes on when I open it via fob, but the button doesn't do anything. Is there something I need to unlock? Or is it a faulty switch?

I would suspect the switch but it might just be dirty. Try cleaning it first.

As I suggested earlier, focus on the switch.

Is the red LED on the switch coming on when you open the trunk?
Beside bad switch or connection, other possibility is that your security system is not disengaging and that disable trunk opener.
I have that on new purchased car figuring out the trunk lid switches have a short somewhere, but still had no time to get to it.
Usually locking and unlocking the doors with remote solve the problem.

On my ,99 E300Turbodiesel it works fine by lifting the switch in the front while depressing the rear, holding up for 2 to 3 seconds before it releases. Releases every time.

Yes the red led on the button comes on when I open the trunk with the fob, but the button refuses to work :S.
Anyway I took a look at this video:

I dismantled everything and cleaned, no dice, I managed to find the part.no of the buttonpad which is 2108208410,

I decided to try out and just replace this thingie, Im determined to find a solution to this annoying problem, cba to turn off engine everytime in order to use the fob to open it.

I managed to find a scrapyard online here in sweden with the part in stock used for 379swedish kronor (about 50 dollars) shipped, dealer would have probably wanted 4 times as much , will report back when I recieve/install it.

Those things are expensive because the switches come in whole board only.
I have similar dilemma because I have window switch broken on one of my cars, but it is not rush for me and window switches are available separately.
Would the shipping distance be smaller, we could buy a board and split the elements

Heya!
I just recieved the new unit, took me about 5mins to unplug the old one and put the new one in, and damn! I must say the new button feels very different (good different) than the old one, since Ive had this thing not working ever since I bought the car. Anyways this fixed my problem it now works! The issue was infact the little button itself. Solution: Get part 2108208410 for cheap at a scrap and then dont bother with the problem ever!
Kajtek1: I have buttonpad with a broken trunkbutton up for grabs wonder what the shipping from sweden costs?

Regards
