Hi,
This is my first DIY, so please excuse my poor english and don't hesitate to inform me about any mistakes.
Also i couldn't add any photos to the gallery so i attached it in this post.
I will modify this post later as soon as i upload the photos to the forum gallery.

My door lock wasn't working well, sometimes it doesn't unlock but it locks every time, you can also hear some vacuumed air is playing inside the door.

So i decided to open the door and look for the problem, i already read about the door lock actuator and how much it costs so i tried to fix it and i did ;)

1. Thanks to Mr. Red66gt's DIY, I disassembled the door and removed the actuator.

2. If you plugged the actuator into the air hose and tried to lock/unlock the doors you will hear the air leaking from the actuator.

3. Bring some Tie-Wraps and secure the upper and the lower side of the actuator until it's tightened.

4. Re-attach the air hose to the actuator to check for any leaks, if it's working fine and there is no leak, then you are OK.

5. Re-assemble the actuator in the lock and inside the door, close the panel and you are good to go.

That is a quick and cheap fix.
Actually it didn't for me from the first time, because i was using a poor quality
Tie-wraps and some super glue, but i fixed it again

I hope it will work for you :)

Rgds,
Waleed Mango

This is an old thread, but it is a fix I may need to make soon. One door lock is not working. Not clear if just pulling ends together with tie-wrap or similar is enough to seal or should a sealant or glue be used as well? Or maybe self-amalgamating tape of the join?

Hi Graham, were you able to fix your problem? I think I have the same issue as you. I have been trying to find a pictorial DIY guide to remove the Rear Door Lock Actuator. there is a post of Mr. Red66gt's DIY, but the pictures he had posted have disappeared ,there is a video on YouTube:
, but this guy uses an angle grinder to remove the actuator. Something I would like to avoid at all cost.

Just did something similar to this, but did it with the actuator in place. Did not have to pull the lock mechanism. The horizontal tie keeps the rear strap #2 from sliding off the shoulder at the yellow arrow.

You can zip tie the actuator without removing the latch from the door. Much much easier and just as effective.
