E-320 Wagon ?

New to this forum, hello all ! A friend is selling a 99 e-320 wagon 90k miles exc. condition with AMG wheels. Never owned a Benz but many beemers and a few Audis and really like wagons. I need a daily driver and a hiway cruiser for some road trips, want to keep miles off the other cars. any input would be great, looks like review and road tests state they were a good generation.
Thx, Jeff

If it's truly in excellent condition I'd go for it. As with any used car, check the service history and inspect it carefully. If you buy it, service the transmission immediately. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

As Musikmann said do a thorough inspection unless your friend is a professional MB mechanic/technician.

For the tasks you mentioned, I think it is an excellent car.

In the DIY stickies at the top of the forum, look for a post called 'Common Problems'. It's a list of all of the things that anyone has ever had so don't panic. But it's good to know what issues might come up. Depending on where you are located and the known history of the car you might want to inspect for rust and check the front 'spring perches' for corrosion. Most owners just do routine maintenance and drive them. The build quality is pretty amazing so 90K isn't much of an issue.

Good luck.

Great, It's a Ca. car and I will check on all service records. Is there some reasonable options to sport up suspension/handling ? if needed.

Sure there are aftermarket shocks and springs but not as much as for a BMW. It's a nice compromise between sport handling and ride comfort. Also, the wagon has a hydraulic self-leveling system in the back.
