Hi all,

I would like to ask you what is this sensor for. The cable looks damaged, that´s why i would like to know what this sensor does, just to prevent and change if necessary. The sensor is located at the back of the transmission box.

Thanks,

Diamond

I'd say Prof. Sir Lou is the most qualified here to answer that, so I leave the technical aspect to him, although I think the picture shows speedo cable.
What I wanted to ask is how did you came with Polish AN-2 in your avatar?

Sir Kris is probably right about this.

Your car never made it to the USA so I am not really familiar with it. For the USA, the 1995 E300D was a W124 model.

It could also be the kickdown solenoid by the look of it

What is the transmission number? (What is the x in 722.x?)

Hi,

The car is a W210 E300 Diesel '95 made in germany, and sold in spain. I´m sorry but i don´t know what transmission i have. How can i know the transmission number????

About the An-2, it´s because a friend of mine has one.

Thanks,

That´s very useful, thanks!

Here are the details of my car:

Engine 606912 02 003161
Transmission 722438 03 884199

I´ll try what you say and i´ll let you know, but i think once i did it and yes, it changed one gear down. Why is this??

Thanks!

Then I think it is the kickdown solenoid. The wire may look damaged but it is still working.

The purpose is to accelerate faster. When it drops down a gear, the RPM will increase (for a given speed) so more power/torque is available.
