Febi Dexron III OK?

I bought an '02 E320 wagon a few months back (72K miles), and ordered all the stuff to do an ATF change, etc from Benz Forum site sponsor "All Parts Express"

I laid everything out this morning to do the job (filter, ATF, dipstick) and see that they sent me "Dexron III" (Febi Nr. 22806).

I was very specific when I ordered this stuff that the ATF be MB factory fluid, as recommended on this forum.

Before I call 'em on it, please advise - is this ATF OK?

Personally I have no problem with Febi Nr. 22806, although it is not on the current "approved" list for Mercedes 236.10. However, you will probably see the Mercedes part number for the 236.10 fluid on the bottom of the Febi bottle.

Many have used this particular fluid.

As a matter of fact, could take a clear picture of the bottom showing the Mercedes part number? The one I have is a little fuzzy and I do not have a bottle of the Febi fluid.

If it's not on the current MB approved list for a 722.6 I would not use it.

My Indy used the stuff, but he poured in a can of BG transmission additive. Runs great and smooth!

BG also has a fluid that claims to meet the 236.10 or ATF 3403 specs. Some Mercedes dealers even use a flushing machine made by BG and some of these some dealers also use the BG fluid in 722.6.

My dealer uses one of the BG fuel system additives, I'm not at home so I can't say which one. The parts guys were very surprised when I asked them about the MB-labelled one, they had never heard of it. I got the part # on this board and they special ordered it for me.

Overall, I think BG makes good products but I would not use their ATF or their additive in my MB.
