car pulling to the right badly =(

Hi all my car pulls to the right pretty badly when I let go of the steering wheel.....I took it to the dealer for an alignment they wouldn't do it for me because they said that my left upper control arm has too much rust on it need to replace and my right spring is not sitting properly on the control arm so my car is about 1cm lower on the right side now that might cause the pulling. They want to charge me almost 1000 dollars to fix that 2 problems first before they do alignment. Does it sound right that the pulling can cause by that 2 problems? Here are some pictures I took on the items...

also to mention the pulling feels about 50% reduced if I put on the snow tires but it still pulls hard just not as hard as the summer tires.....they are both same size on the front

the first 2 pic is the (problem) right front spring that the dealer report is not sitting properly and the 3rd pic is the left spring that should be correctly sitted. I see a small gap that the spring can still be screw in for about 1 cm would that be causing the problem? or do you guys see how is the spring not properly seated? and the rest of the pic are from the left control arm that the dealer saids it should be replace

I think I got the same problem of the right coil spring as you described
last time, when I had my car serviced at dealer, they told me the tip of the front coil spring on the right side of my car is broken, and that would cause a little free play of the spring, and recommend me to replace it
but for me, my car steers with no problem, if you steer in the right direction in flat highway, it can probably last 15 seconds in the same lane, although I do feel a slight vibration on the right side of front car sometimes when I brake in front of stop lights, usually it's OK with no problems
last but not the least, if I remember correctly, the dealer want about 300$ to replace the right coil spring

First check that your tire wear is even. Then set your car LEVEL (lengthwise and in width) after you get the four tires to spec pressure, measure the exact height from the ground to the suspension link to the wheels. See if you have 10 mm difference at symmetrical points. If so, go to a front end specialist that you would trust and see what they tell you. Go from there according to what your moxie tells you.

I tried that today and yes I have 4 identical tires and same pressure and measure the height the front right is +/- 10mm lower then the front right. Would this mean pulling problem?

I have the mechnic check it again and after hours of checking he told me that one of my front wheel is more forward then the other side. he told me that the gap between the front bumper and tires on one side is bigger then the other side so it means one wheel is sitting more front then another and most possible to cause the pulling but he saids he have no idea yet what the cause is and how to fix it. Anyone has any idea on this issue before? Thanks for all your helps!

Have you had the control arm bushings checked? If they are worn out that could throw the caster off, and that will definitely cause a car to pull to one side.

Also, from the pics, it appears to me that the spring is located just fine. Steer clear of that dealer. I think they're trying to milk you. A little rust on the outside of the upper control doesn't mean it's worn out either.

I havent ask the guy yet but my control arm bushings has been replaced about a year ago. However I was in a front end accident about half a year ago is just cosmetic damage doesnt really look like it will damage any mechanical or chassis parts but I am not sure. The funny thing is that today I try to test it for a long time and find out that sometimes it pulls to the left side too. Let say the road is stright and fairly flat for 1 mile long. It will start pulling to the right then after about 1/3 of a mile then it seems kind of strighten out. and for the last 1/3 mile it will start to pull to the right. So for a 1 mile long stright and flat road, my streering is tilted to the right at first, then seems center, then tilted to the left.

It seems to me that you have a problem with the suspension geometry. Something is out of wack if the wheel bearings are OK and the wheels seat well in place. Find a great front end specialist (or two to compare notes) and have it diagnosed and priced. Stay indy if you wish to keep within reasonable budget.

I have another mechanic that works at the dealer to come check the car and he check it for hours and told me he cant see anything wrong with the suspension and everything is in the right place is solid. So now I am thinking that it could be problem with tires again I might just go buy a new set of tires tomorrow and try it out since 3 different person look at it and for total of like 5 days and tell me there is nothing wrong with the front end and I have done alignment 3 times already......is driving me crazy
