Transmission Gear shift won't shift from D to low (4,3,2 or 1)
I cannot get the shifter to move from D to 4 and down through 1 from there. It was working fine until recently. I believe my sunglass arm got in there and may have caused some damage. Any ideas on what may be wrong and what i could look at to diagnose or repair. The tranny works fine otherwise- moves smoothly through gears. I just cannot manually put it into low gear.
prnd are all mechanical accuatuated via the shift linkage,manual mode is electroic.Something may have fallen into the shift module that is blocking the disengagement process between both functions.Have you popped off the console wood and examined the trans module for something in the way?

Thanks for the info. I had pulled the console wood up and hadn't seen anything in the way. Although I hadn't tried to disassemble the shift module as I wasn't sure exactly how to pop it open. I'll take another look at it this weekend. Do you have a good link to take it apart to the shift module?
