Hello - I am trying to remove the top bolt from the driver's side motor mount on my 2002 e320 wagon. I followed the DIY and unbolted the A/C, pushed it forward to allow some room, but I can't break it free. If you have done this already, then you know you can just barely fit you hand(s) in there from underneath, but cannot exert much force on the handle.
Mr. AMG: Thanks for the suggestion. I tried with a (non swivel) shorty but no luck. I am not a complete novice, but not a very good mechanic either so maybe I'm just missing some obvious trick.
Yes, perhaps I to try to pry it with something else. I tried lubricating everything with blood from my knuckes and wrists but that didn't help at all. I'll keep trying and post a photo of the final solution.

Have you tried mixing a good quality penetrating oil....... along with your blood?? ;-)
Are you able to get an angle to TIGHTEN, the fastener?? This will often release a frozen fastener, so you CAN loosen it.

Ditto the penetrating oil. Use a good brand, let is soak a while. Key to freeing a stuck bolt like that is often a sharp, hard blow against the ratchet handle. If you can use a length of pipe to improve leverage, all the better.
Mine also came off without much fuss, but I think there is more room around there for leverage with the V8 engine.

OK, I threw in some sweat & tears and it came off. No trick, really. I just went back with a new attitude and pried hard the handle of the stubby ratchet with a pry bar. Otherwise it went fine. I really didn't want to use the Loctite though! (Of course I did anyway).
Thanks again G-AMG! Your photo DIY plus follow-up support really helped me. The old mounts were totally trashed. Now she idles in drive and reverse as smooth as can be
My wagon has 60K mi. and has exhibited symptoms of a bad mount for quite some time.
